The Institute was established in 1964 as Government Engineering College, Rewa which later renamed as Rewa Engineering College, Rewa in the year 1998 after the Government of Madhya Pradesh declared it as an Autonomous Institute. Rewa Engineering College is situated in Rewa, a major town of Madhya Pradesh in vindhya region. This region is rich in natural resources and lime stone mineral and presently JP cement, Satna cement, Maihar cement and Prism cement are major industries of this region. In addition to that optical fibre telecom industries like vindhya telelinks, TAMAS, Universal cables and Birla Ericsion Ltd are also located here. The Ban Sagar project is another major project in this region for hydal power generation and irrigation. The city is well connected with the rail and bus routes. It is 175 km from Banaras on A.P.S. University Road. It is 4 km to the nearest railway station at Rewa and 135 Km to the International Airport at khajuraho. The lush green campus of Rewa Engineering College, Rewa on the foothills of the western Ghats offers a salubrious atmosphere for academic pursuits. The campus is spread over 250 acres of land. Various Departments, Laboratories, Workshops, Sports facilities, Staff quarters, Hostels, post office, bank, medical facilities and other facilities occupy only part of it. All its departments are fully developed as regards to classroom facilities, laboratories and computer facilities and other basic infrastructure required to run the department. The various departments of the college are also engaged in testing and consultancy work. |
